dont think so, it's possible the water passing over the speaker is mimicking the sound wave being produced. other then that explanation the strobe fits, but the video dosnt look like a strobe effect

What if the strobe is tuned to sound beat (I don't have sound on this computer)?
I'm thinking that the water is on constant drip making the droplets time-synched. Then adjust the sound. Does it appear that the sine wave freq is constant but the amplitude increases? That would conform with a volume, not freq adjustment. |

I'll bet that was shot with a digital video camera. For some reason (frame capture rate?), digital video sometimes introduces it's own stroboscopic effect.
