Mercedes Style Concept Debuts in Los Angeles

Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled photos of their long-awaited compact sedan concept. Mercedes has tagged it the Concept Style Coupe or as it will become known, the CSC. The showcar will make its public debut at Auto China in Beijing beginning April 23. Technical highlights include its striking headlamp design featuring innovative indicators, the new four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 208 hp (155 kW) and the all-wheel drive system 4MATIC.

Holy front overhang, Batman!!! Does this mean that Mercedes has joined the rest of the sheep and stuck an engine sideways across the car in front? Fine for the A and B-classes, no thanks for a sedan.

It's likely going to be offered in AWD or FWD configurations.

FWD - good configuration for dumb birds who can't drive a real car. Hopefully this won't replace the C-class here.

Yeah, yeah, haters gonna hate -- I'm a hater and proud of it! Oh yeah, and no shifter? Does that mean that only autotragic "drivers" (and I use the term loosely) need apply?

I don't particularly like it, and they should be able to get way more hp out of that fourbanger than 208hp, welcome to the standard of several years ago....

I see it as the response to the BMW 1 Series, slightly higher than entry level, but below the current C-Class. The performance figures likely reflects tuning for corporate mpg. 200 BHP in a lighter car, nothing to sneer at, really.

Call me a bit of an SL snob, but I don't particularly enjoy seeing the SL styled grille on a non SL car.

I'm sneering, my vw hatch has the same power and that's considered behind the competition in that segment. It's one of those instances when you know they could do much better but haven't for some reason (style trumping performance most likely). Considering the likely price segment, that's not too impressive. The design is meh...looks sleek but overstyled a bit too much but then again it's a concept so who knows what the final product will look like. I doubt this will give any performance competition to the BMW 1 series, that's for sure.

Hideous. Don't know which I dislike more though. The inside or the outside.

Peter, I'm pretty sure Daimler knows that you're no longer in their entry level new model buyer demographic.

It looks like the perfect car for their target audience. The 20-30 something making 30k a year and want to look like a millionaire with a $299 monthly lease. BMW has totally dominated this up until now.

It looks better than the new 1 and 3 series in my opinion.

One bright thing I see... Euro Cloth! The wheels are kind of neat too. Porsche turbo twists on steroids.

It looks like Mercedes is trying to copy Kia now. Interesting twist...
