An Arizona Law We Can All Agree On

New law going into effect allows bars and liquor stores to sell and refill "growlers" of any beer they carry for take home.

Good! I've gotten a few here in PA, though the only place I've really seen them is from the breweries themselves (at least thats where I've gotten them).

I'm almost afraid to know what the preceding definitions are, that is what sexual act or body part it involves, but my curiosity is getting the best of me.

EDIT: sometimes you should just follow your gut.

Here in Cali especially up in gold country we called it a bucket of beer. You'd fetch it from the bar to the barbershop, garage etc... I heard that before wide spread phones. Enterprising young men would see the empty bucket hanging off a peg at business or home and make a whole nickel to deliver.

My guess: In some states, you are limited in the quantity of beer that you can buy from a bar (as opposed from a beer distributor) in one transaction as a takeout purchase. At least with professionally-packaged beer, the bar owner knows (and can prove to inquisitive liquor-law enforcement agents) the quantity of beer that is being sold in one transaction. Not so easy to prove when the receptacle is some random bucket.

I can understand the bars, but seems unlikely that liquor stores would be interested in having a tap system and and kegs dedicated to selling a product that they already have in bottles or cans.

In Colorado the growler law allowed breweries and brew pubs to sell their own product whenever they were open for business. Quite a benefit when liquor stores were closed on Sunday.

Blind pig

Another name for a growler is "blind pig". (Prohibition era slang)
If you have finished the contents of a gallon jug of beer and lay the jug on its side, it does, indeed, look like a pig with no eyes.
Maybe. . .
