I recently spoke with a sales agent for a major RV dealership. He said that a rather large manufacturer of RV A/C systems recently made the decision to quit the business due to EPA meddling.

This is interesting......

"The latest is Alfredo Armendariz, who resigned after a two year old video emerged of him explaining to environmental groups that the EPA’s enforcement policies compared favorably with those of the Roman Empire where they would crucify someone in a newly conquered town to create the necessary fear in the citizenry."

Yeah, I'd like to see someone abandone a profitable business simply because of regulations.

More likely he was not making any money and wanted an excuse.

If the business were profitable he would have sold it.

Hmm, what do I know about AC systems in RV's? Tell you what I know. They're junk. They're too expensive, too noisy, and use too much power. Your rather large manufacturer's probably mad because he can't get the EPA to erect a trade tariff to protect him from superior, and cheaper foreign competition.

That EPA guy is a ****head, and it's good he's gone. But that's the normal scheme for law enforcement. They can never catch all the ne'er do wells, so they try to intimidate everyone into compliance.

who gives a rip about foreigners? I'd like to see them BANNED from doing business here. Send their sad butts back to China or wherever they came from. Why can't we support our own people? or is their something wrong with that idea?

There is something wrong with that idea. First, this is a website for owners of German cars. Second, American manufacturers failed to continue to innovate, or even keep up with tech, especially in air conditioners. The foreign competition isn't merely cheaper, it's better. Americans would buy American, if it was worth a damn. I'm convinced they'll tolerate a significant disparity in quality (How else would Chevrolet ever sell a car?). But there's a limit. Third, have you looked at some American brands lately? Often just a Whirlpool or Amana sticker on a Chinese unit.

Unconditional protection from foreign competition, and we'd be driving cars from twenty years ago, and paying more for them.
