Off to berry hill farm in the morning

I am in the Pensacola area today visiting with my son and his lovely wife and three hellrasing sons. We swam in the gulf in bathwater temps, found sharks teeth and ate local seafood before riding on the new 225' high ferris wheel which features air conditioned gondolas.

We just finished grilling meat and eating and as soon as the three hellraising grandsons are in bed the son and I will be going Gatorshining. This involves a 500 candlepower spotlight and probably a little more beer.

We saw a large one last night about a quarter mile away, though my son thought closer. We watched it for a half hour or so as it cruised around the little bay in the bayou. We had to leave early last night as the mosquito fogger was coming and we did not fancy getting fogged by it.

Tomorrow I will rise early and set the nose of the big Dodge toward that place of fable and legend, Berry Hill Farm, where I hear there is never a dull moment and a pretty straight 83 TD with a decent leather interior, a rust free body and the elusive five speed manual.

See you tomorrow Randy!

And by the way, I have been feeling that 3 cars is kind of too many (see below).

If in the event, I decide to let go of the Red Plum, I'd like you to have it be the new owner, not only because you have personally ridden in it, in SF, and you liked it. But also, it would be important that its new owner be a worthy caretaker of it, and I am sure you would be.

Just thinking about it, though. Nothing firm. I like it too. But, if it goes you have the right of first refusal. And a nice price because I know you.

And, I could go on a vacaton and drop it off. It would make a fun XC road trip.

Since you rode in it it has been fully tund up and hd the resonator removed and it runs better than ever, though has a snarl when you floor it,now. Just put a set of new Conti Extreme Contact DWS tires and a 4 wheel alignment on it at the local Mercedes Benz dealer, too last week. Just passed the CA emissions and got the 11/2013 sticker too and a new wax job.

hmm maybe I should keep it awhile. I really do like to drive it.

I do appreciate the though, Jim, and the plum is a truly lovely car to ride in and I am sure to drive, but it is too new for me and would use too much gas. I would love for you to come out to the midwest though I would be happy to give the tour of Lafayette for you like you did in SF. It is not nearly as much fun though

One can only hope!

I will say that Randy's sheep dogs like me. His chow trapped me for a while in the corner of the living room though and Randy had to come save me

Yesterday, while coming through Louisiana, I had been driving along in the big Dodge about 3 over the speed limit all day I had the misfortune of getting one of those remora like drivers who apparently did not use cruise control. I was traveling at a constant speed and he would pass me then slow down so I would have to pass him again, or he would get beside me and just linger there or in my blind spot This had been going on for at least 20 minutes and I was getting frustrated with the knucklehead So I am in the left lane passing him and he speeds up yet again After a while a couple of cars come up behind me so I step on the gas and speed up and try to get a little lead on him, hoping to break his attraction to me So as I go under an overpass a state trooper leaps out and flags me over. The DB had hidden his car behind the bridge abutment

So I pull over immediately. He comes up and says he got me at 83

Shyte!

I tell him I was passing a car and they speeded up on me but he was in fund raising mode and wrote me a ticket.

I arrived at Berry Hill Farm before dark and got the full cow tour, along with the pond tour etc. it is lovely here

After Randy got done loading hay we commenced to drinking his favorite bourbon which happens to be what I have been drinking lately too and found we had a lot in common besides old mercedes.

He fed me one of his grass fed ribeye steaks along with a magical fresh greens salad and some fried potatoes that could not be beat.

We told lies til midnight and retired.

Today we will put my tires and wheels on the wagon and I'll hook it up to the truck and head back north.

The sheep dogs are big strong dogs, black and with curly hair they cannot get enough petting I thought they thought I was pretty special but Randy says they will hang around anybody that will pet Randy has a camera and I'll ask him to document my visit somehow today.

The steaks are supurb.

Actually the dogs are Belgian cow dogs.

I discovered I did not have all my tow bar parts so had to rent an infernal uhaul tow dolly.

Got about half way home today and blew a tire on the tow dolly. Got the rig to the side of the interstate safely and so forth. The tire cost me about an hojur and a half i guess and I just got home about 12 30 am.

I like the wagon.

G'nite!

I don't think Randy took any pictures though. Sorry!
