I might go with a W211, but I'm leery of the W210 up here in the snowbelt with the chassis' history of failing front spring perches. The 2005-06 diesel looks intriguing but I still have to investigate them a little more.

Another issue I am starting to see on a regular basis is the failure of the electric water pump after about 100k miles. Seems to be pretty predictable too. Had a call from a lady with an 07 525 today with a failed water pump. They are kinda pricey at ~$400 too.
