There 2 screws on each side of the sliderbox, one on each side by the front, remove them and the whole console box comes out.
Then you can disassemble the box, and roll in the new wooden slider assembly into the slider box, and put the box back together and screw it down and you are done. 2. OR you could buy a complete one for $50-$100 either on ebay, at the junkyard (*if* you are lucky, the yard employees usually grab them first when a wrecked one comes in) so they are pretty rare at yards ; They are ALL the same for every w126 car from 1986 - 1991 but you will need to get one in zebrano wood, to match the wood trim in your car,so don't use a donor car's 560 engined console box, the slider is made of the Burlwood used only in the 560, so that would, look all wrong in your car; And probably the ebay or junkyard one will be in the wrong color, and your console box's key you already have won't fit it - so you can't lock your console box with your key, though if you were lucky you could get the key to lock that kind of box with the used one but it would cause you o to have a whole other extra key for your key ring only for just the console lock... 3. Look at the w126 "parts for sale" section on the benzworld.org forum, I know that a few people there are w126 junkyard divers/scavengers and could possibly have one to sell you, 4. Get the whole thing from the Mercedes Benz classic center or a Mecedes Benz dealer though it would likely cost hundreds of dollars, 5. Get one (as outlined above) from a w124 in Zebrano (the 420e and E420 have burlwood, though and other models don't) and their sliders fit but are too short for the w126, so if you don't mind an unlockable slider that will leave a one inch gap in the front when closed - or a like gap in front when almost closed, which is as far as it wll go, a w124 in Zebrano slider is a workable inferior alternative, 6. Or just forget it and use the open console as a cupholder, if you want. I doubt the w140 ebay wood slider would fit. I think their consoles are much hgher, but am unsure. Use google to compare pic's or post a question on benzworld. I don't know much about w140's.
