Since the video was widely shared on social media last week, the fatal March 13 crash has reignited a debate about the impunity of the rich and well-connected in Thailand. A similar debate raged in the U.S. with the case of the Texas teenager who used an “affluenza” defense in a deadly drunken-driving wreck.

The Mercedes driver, Janepob Verraporn, 37, now tops a list of “Bangkok’s deadly rich kids,” as one Thai newspaper calls the children of privilege who have killed with their fancy cars. TV talk shows, social media forums and editorials have chimed in on a debate that asks whether justice will be served this time or — if history is any guide — if Janepob will walk away from the crime without serving time.

I noticed that too. Sort of acting like one. If he's had a silver spoon in his mouth since birth, could be major extended adolescence. And if this is an indication of how little impact the school of hard knocks has had on him ...

This story is shocking for me. If I had been hit like that and survived, I'd want to go after the dooshbag with a baseball bat.

I think you guys have not been to that side.. Most countries there only dish out law for the middle class or poor, the rich are above it. SIMPLE as that.

if this person in Thailand were arrested or tried Im sure the police chief would be forced to resign.

Ooday Hussein got away with stuff like that and one day a few guys tried to kill him and only crippled him, partially.

Amazing stuff. Rich parents like that are creating monsters.
