OKAY! I would have been quite pleased had he chosen not to show up. THAT would have shown leadership and respect for our troops.

Did not know this happened. I also didn't realize the time period. Makes more sense now.

We've been in their place before and have said things similar. This is nothing new.

The POTUS is SUPPOSED to be the leader. One method of influence that a leader has is the example he sets. Is this the example he wishes to set?

Its not the first time you have heard it.

Everything else's you have said you disagree with has already been proven false. This too is false because he did not condone it. yes. he is going to a benefit to help people. A very good example.

No one wants harm wished upon or to come to their family. That much is obvious, soldier or otherwise.

PSY wants that. He said so. Of course, once it appeared to get in the way of his money making, he apologized. Can you really effectively apologize for such a statement and expect 100% forgiveness?

Well, It's been years since I posted, but unemployment is a hell of a drug. Gives you all this free time. I've declined to post in other politically charged threads linked to me by a friend here as I felt it not worth the effort. I still feel that way, but WTF why not? We have so many others spouting about this and that, why not I jump in since I haven't anything better to do.

The first thing I wanted to mention, which had just been said, is there was reason behind the anti-American vibe in South Korea. The two young girls being killed, and then no justice for the ones responsible. It was deemed a military exercise or something and the court martial acquitted them of all charges, if I have my facts correct. It would be the same as if the British had a military base here in the US, drove around, killed a couple people, and then got off scott free after being shipped back to the UK for a military trial. People would be pissed. Also around this time, 2002 and 2004, South Korea was trying to build relations with North Korea which would involve cutting more ties with the USA. Mix that with the fact that South Korea's population, along with that of many numerous other countries' (include a good portion of the populace here at home), did not like the actions of the US military in Iraq. And lastly, connected to Iraq, a video was posted on Al Jazeera showing an SK citizen being beheaded I think it was by terrorists in protest of SK Soldiers showing up in Iraq. Lots of bad stuff, lots of bad attitudes, etc. etc.

As such, Psy is a performer. He then performed twice on stage at Anti-American events. He may have shared or still share such views with much of the general populace. He may have done it to drum up his on popularity. He could have done it for many of reasons, but he has since apologized.

I also think it necessary to state here that he did not, with those lyrics, wish death slow and painful upon the ALL AMERICAN SOLDIERS and their families, just the ones that tortured Iraqi Captives, and those that ordered them to do it. Hmm, I guess the song had a thing against people who commit such despicable crimes against humans and perhaps humanity as a whole. Torture is bad. Especially when you do it just to humiliate someone and then post happy pictures on your facebook about it. *

Also, given the lyrics? I would think you want to focus on the previous president as he seems to be the one being threatened. But, ok, you want to focus on the current one because he is the one seeming to OKAY this performer who has had politically charged sentiments tied to him. Fine.

I'm not saying anything that has been said in this thread or in the articles tied to this thread are good, bad, justifiable, whatever. (Except torture. That **** IS bad.) I just felt like bringing up more facts, as I know them. I may have them wrong, I welcome you to research for yourself. I'm going to end this post with two words: Ted Nugent.

I didn't say others families.

PSY is not the first one to want harm to come to American nor will he be the last.

What about the flip side? Does not many Americans want harm to come to others? Especially around the time of a major traumatic event?

Letting him get away with it... Please. We are not the free speech police of the world. People have a right to say whatever they please to whom, about whom, etc. Just because he is in the presence of the POTUS does not mean the POTUS agrees with his sentiments. This was for a charity event right? Perhaps the POTUS realizes that his and PSY's presence would benefit the charity more so than without?

Or maybe the POTUS just didn't give a **** about some song a Korean pop-star made year ago?
