Convert Word -> PDF Program

What's the easiest way to convert a Word file to PDF?

I will soon be working with some forms that are currently in Word format, but need to easily "fillable" forms, so I'm thinking they need to be in a PDF format.

Thanks in advance.

I set up a soft printer on one of my computers at work a long time ago to print to a file. Instead of selecting a physical printer you select the print to file. I use it from time to time but don't remember how I set it up. You might check into that approach. If you don't have it by Monday, I'll look at how it is set up.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

I did a quick search and there appears to be programs that convert a .txt to PDF. Wondering if anyone had any freeware recommendations.

In Word, just save document as pdf instead of .docx or whatever.

That easy?

Does it turn the .doc into a fillable form - so you can add/change text to the fields without screwing up the formatting etc?

A .pdf is more like a picture, not allowing text edition. If you need to make an editable form I think you need a different approach. I might be wrong.

Incorrect, PDFs can be locked sure, but many are simply text that you can select, edit, etc. many online and print out forms are this way so you can just type the info in and print it off

I thought you could "lock" sections of a Word document and create forms that can be filled out but not edited.

If it turns out that it really is available for free, you might see if Acrobat Pro 8 would do what you want to do.
