Jeep Production Moving to China

Chrysler Looks to Restart Jeep Production in China - WSJ.com

I remember that someone, during the previous election cycle, suggested just such a thing and was ridiculed and vilified for it.

What was vilified during the last election cycle was Romney's attempt to make it look like Chrysler was MOVING it's existing production to China, rather than EXPANDING into China's markets. Interesting coincidence that you used the same wording.

Yes Chris, I remember how that suggestion was guffawed by all the Obama zealots. I guess they were caught up in their Obamagasms and could not see it for what it was. Looks like our tax money invested in Chrysler bought Obama some time on this to postpone it until after the election. Chicago politics at its finest.

How many Jeeps do the Chinese buy from the US currently?

At present 3 imported Jeep models were sold in China comprising Grand Cherokee, Wrangler and Compass. In 2012, the company's auto sales in China amounted to 60,000 units accounting for nearly 8.5% of its global sales.

2012 Campaign Flashback

Chrysler does have plans to start Jeep production in China but for the Chinese market. "We are working to establish a global enterprise and previously announced our intent to return Jeep production to China, the world's largest auto market, in order to satisfy local market demand, which would not otherwise be accessible," Marchionne wrote in his blog post.

Psst, Chris . . . Romney lost the election, let's move forward.

Jeep was the first American Car Company manufacturing in communist China I believe in 1984 when it was still American Motors; and continued into 1987 when Chrysler bought American motors, and has never stopped.
This not news whatsoever.

It's only news because the Romney camp wanted to make it news. They wanted so bad to have something terrible to say about Obama's America they finally just started making stuff up.

Chrysler was looking at their Jeep sales in China and figured it finally made sense to start building them there for the Asian market. So they announce with great fanfare that they were expanding production in China.

Romney just lied and said they were moving all of their production to China.

That's when I knew they were done for. They themselves knew it was all over, so what did they have to lose by just making stuff up?

Republicans and Conservatives love to rant on about integrity, but you rarely see it in their campaigns. I guess they think if they just keep talking about they will finally convince themselves they are right.

They already have a lot of folks fooled.

Nobody guffawed at anything except Romney's lameass attempt to make it look like Chrysler was moving offshore. What part of the facts of this story are you having difficulty with?
Jeep production is not MOVING to China, it's EXPANDING to China to cover THEIR market. It has no effect on Jeeps sold to Americans.

Being an American, it's a safe bet that he is doing just fine. The economy is recovering from it's historic near death, the real estate market is also recovering and tomorrow another inauguration documenting the peaceful continuation of history in this political system.

An astute observation, since the electorate did not signal an intent to return to former GOP policies on economy or social issues.

Yes, the US electorate is indeed easily snookered!
