Nugent to be guest of Rep Stockman to SOU.

A great patriot

I wonder if Stockman knows about how Nugent got out of serving in the military. I was not aware that not showering and crapping your pants was the sign of a true patriot. Way to go Stockman.

Yet one more reason to laugh at TX.

MTUpower 02-11-2013 09:12 PM

While it's a stupid choice for a guest, bashing the rep who invited him does not move us forward.
Nugent is a DB, IMHO.

elchivito 02-11-2013 09:12 PM

Ted Skidmark's rep is well known. Stockman is the douchebag in this deal.

You sure got a woody for the Nuge.

Bringing Nugent to the House Gallery does not move us forward either.
It's cheap political theater, and Stockman is a complete asshat for making this play.

davidmash 02-11-2013 10:13 PM

I know he is such an upstanding guy but I cannot help my self. I'll try and do better.

t walgamuth 02-11-2013 10:17 PM

Both are DB.

So if a Lib brought a Nugent equivalent to a republican SOU you would not question or denigrate the dem rep who did that? Sorry but I'm going to call BS on that one.

Nugent is a DB even by your own admission. How is Stockman not a DB for inviting a DB?

Bashing? What bashing? Sounds more like a reporting of the news with a mild rebuke of the Congressperson tacked on. One wonders if the Secret Service will allow Nugent in the room. I suspect the one with a woody for the Nuge is this starfcuker DB:

snopes.com: Ted Nugent Dodged the Draft?

TwitchKitty 02-12-2013 11:14 AM

I have new found respect for Nugent's music. Met a young woman who straightened me right out on that point. I wasn't giving the guy due credit.

Don't know him personally and would have to hear his side of the DB thing before I could say anything about that.

Jeremiah Wright?

davidmash 02-12-2013 12:19 PM

Yep, that's the one.

spdrun 02-12-2013 12:22 PM

Why should he have served the defense contractors in a pointless war? If only 75% of the military had gone AWOL the moment Dubya marched us into Iraq...

Nugent is execrable in a lot of ways, but this ain't one of them. Blindly following your government's orders is not a sign of patriotism.

From our perspective you may be right, from the perspective of the right I suspect not.

Nugent has a following. Those people are probably not a fan of Jane Fonda, Wright, Sharpton or others mentioned here.

MTI 02-12-2013 12:34 PM

I may be out on a limb, but Nugent is to the right wing, as Springsteen is to the left.

The gentleman in question, Mr. Nugent, promised to be either in jail or dead if President Obama was elected to a second term . I'm waiting for him to do either.

I also avoided the pointless drama of Vietnam but I didn't do it by assaulting the senses of a bunch of people doing their job as they saw fit.

Nugent has about the most hideous smirk I've seen on anyone.

I like the Chicks. Say what you want about them but they stuck by their guns and took their licks. Even wrote a song that they were not ready to make nice.

I've worked with them on several occasions. Very nice people.
I was proud of them when they made their stance back in '03

Pooka 02-12-2013 05:10 PM

Tomorrow is going to be a very bad day for Conservatives.

They will tune in tonight hoping to see their Icon make a statement by yelling or throwing a fit or whatever. But no matter what Ted actions tonight, Conservatives will be tuned in and hearing what the President has to say.

And some of them will see they agree with the President. They don't know this because they have been told not to listen to him, and, like sheep, they have followed the voice of the right wing-o-verse and the only things they know about Obama are those they have been told by people who hate him.

Tonight they will hear him for themselves, and some will change their opinions of him.

And just think.... The Rep. from Texas will get the credit for this!

spdrun 02-12-2013 05:41 PM

Hey, I'm just hoping that the O-man says something about gov't investment or more regulations that will cause investors to either panic or cheer and cause volatility in stocks. I day-traded quite a bit over the last few months to positive effect. More chaos = more opportunity. Mo' moneh = less probluhms.

And my favorite toy, SPWR, is doing nicely of recent. Other than that, he's just another liar flapping his foul yap-hole, so I don't really give a f**k what he blabbers about.

Botnst 02-12-2013 07:15 PM

The Nuge seems to draw quite a strong reaction from people who don't like him and a shrug from everybody else. Not unlike Limbaugh.

I don't see what the big fuss is about. He plays the media for money. Like Limbaugh. ANY publicity is good publicity for those folks. So the more you keep his name in the news, the more money he makes.

Keep going, he loves you.

I know the Nuge's career isn't what it used to be, but hopefully he's not relying on the publicity he gets from PeachParts....;)

Heard he's going to tour opening for Styx and REO Speedwagon.....:laugh:

From my seat it looks like Ted makes all these gun related statements to keep himself in the spotlight in leu of making new music.

Bingo. Guy just likes being in the spotlight, no different than a "shock jockey" like they have on the cable news shows.

Txjake 02-13-2013 12:30 AM

The guy can still burn a riff like few can

Bzoo 02-13-2013 01:23 AM

Evidently a bridge too.

Jorn 02-13-2013 01:26 AM

The difference between shock jocks like Rush and Nuge is that Nuge got a real talent.

Aside from his love for hunting and guns, in general, he's a R in sheep's, or make that wolf's clothing. Or maybe just a loin cloth.........

He's better known for his music, some of which isn't too bad. I saw him once in concert, never again though. It was, without question, the LOUDEST concert I've ever been to. It was very painful and rather insulting in some ways - totally stupid to turn it up that loud. I expect it was into the 120+ db range and we were as far away from the stage as you could be.
I would have left but I had just bought four exspensive tickets and really wanted to see Bad Company who headlined.

How are their record sales compared to before the event?

Looks like he was keeping his fingers warm for an after speech performance . . .

I suspect not as well. What does that have to do with what I said? I never said I respected them because of their sales. I respect them because they stood by their statements and took the licking. Even wrote a neat song saying they were not ready to make up. I believe that speaks of integrity more than anything else.

The guy sitting next to Nugent doesn't appear to be too impressed by Teleprompter Boi's flowery oratory, LOL .......
