I am glad for LT but I cannot help but wish that the Navajo nation could profit from their history as well.

I've always liked the Eastern blanket dance.

My family has collected Navajo, Pueblo and Hispanic textiles for generations. I don't actively collect any more but am still conservator for our rugs and blankets. The evidence of folding (creases) in that chief's is a serious negative for most collectors. Depending on how long the blanket was stored, those creases may be permanent. Lord only knows what it would have sold for if it had been properly rolled for storage.

He said that originally, the blanket fetched about 4 times an army officer's yearly salary. I imagine that amount of money changed the lives of the tribe where it originated.

I could do some good if someone gave me $250,000 right now for something I made...

wow just finished watching the piece while waiting on some raster files to process for a meeting tomorrow morning, getting late, real late and needed a quick break....

I was reduced to tears or rather uplifted to tears of joy. What a great story. "Good things happen to good people"

Not to take anything away from the story or the poor dude who changed his life, it makes me wonder about bidder #110 who had $1.5M to toss away on that. How many jobs did he outsource to make the kind of money needed to buy that?

Hopefully and perhaps none.

There are folks who drop 30M on Ferrari GTOs too. I always wonder how they got that much too but don't go to the step of making specific negative thoughts about it.

Ralph Lauren for example owns a raft of expensive cars and I believe he offers quality products. (Made in China with child labor?)

Then there is Leno and Seinfeldt who make their money honestly even if it is in staggeringly huge quantities.

I'd like to believe that, but does that really happen now? Or are you talking about offshore jobs?
