83 Mercedes 380 SEL Help..

Just bought this car last weekend and it doesn't want to run smoothly and wants to spit black fuel deposits out the tail pipe etc... does it sound like a coolant sensor and does it even have one..? Whatever the case it blows black clouds like my diesel when you crank it. thanks guys
