One World Trade Center - Space Available

Apparently, the new World Trade Center building has been topped off, marking a significant milestone in the completion of this building, and in the continuing recovery of lower Manhattan from the 9/11 tragedy. With that said, my question to this forum is, that if you were offered a job that involved working in the new Center, would you be hesitant to accept the position due to concerns over future terrorist attacks?

Well, given that I highly prefer living in the boonies, it wouldn't work for me.

That said, if I WERE a city person and was offered a job in that building, the LAST concern on my list of things to consider while making the decision, would be that building.

To begin with, I expect that security will be quite tight there. Secondly, statistically the safest place on the battlefield is a crater, because it is less likely that the very same spot will be hit again.

For some, especially for someone who might have lost a loved one in the original WTC, it might be something difficult to overcome.

Sure. That is why I won't run in the Boston Marathon. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Seriously, why bother? You cannot predict where and when they will hit and whether you will be collateral damage or not. Why borrow tomorrow's problems? If you made your own fallout shelter, something could still get you so where are you going that is 100% safe? Obviously, a war zone is bad but something in between has got to be acceptable.

Except that the WTC was in fact hit twice. And if I were AQ I'd be making it a priority target again.

Security will make working there and getting there a royal c u n t. The NY Pig Dept has talked about street closings and checkpoints. Pity anyone living and working within 10 blocks of the bloody thing.

I'd have to think long and hard about it.

Yes, all those reasons are valid. I thought you were only talking about the risk involved.

No but you couldn't pay me enough to live and or work in NYC anyway. The Philly metro area is almost too crowded for me as it is.

Well, I'd have to agree with you on that. NFW would I ever move to NYC. OTOH, a temporary stint with the right incentives could work.

Structurally, it's quite a bit different than your standard skyscraper; it's built like a brick ****house.
