I didn't know if he was trying to be funny or what. There must be something else causing the sharp pains in my chest that happen every few weeks or so. I think I will try a new Doctor.

Hi CLK Man,
You can get a device that will monitor heart events. My doc ordered a device for me that does exactly this. I apply two leads to my chest area with adhesive thingies and then connect a wire to each of of these and connect the other end of the wires to a thing i connect to my belt that looks like a pager. The device monitors and records everything but tosses it after about 90 seconds except if I push the record button on the pager-like device. At that point the device saves about 30 seconds of recording prior to when I pushed the button, as well as 30 seconds or so after I pushed the button. After a few events, the recorder gets full and sounds a tone. At that point I upload the recordings to a specified phone number and after that the info is sent to the doc. This process can be repeated as needed.
This is completely painless, except when it comes time to remove the sticky things. I strongly suggest you get something such as what I described above.
Also if you are unhappy with your doc for any reason, go to another. I had a doc for many years who became an increasingly bad doc. Or maybe he always was a bad doc and I just didn’t realize it. I dunno. Anyway, I switched a few months ago and the new to me doc has made all the difference in both attitude and willingness to investigate. The heart monitor is one of many examples that the new doc has suggested that the former doc never even hinted was an option.
Edit: The device is called a "Hearttrack Smart" and is made by HeartCare Corportion of America. The device was loaned to me for about a month by the doc's office. At the end of the monitoring time, eveything goes back in the box they provided me and is sent back by way of US mail.
