I've heard that too. Who knows. I do know that upon reading words supposedly from the historical Buddha, in the Dhammapada, I was struck by how often some bit sounded like a paraphrase of JC or vicey versa. Similar with the Tao The Ching. Several possible explanations I suppose. One might be that there really is one big sort of intelligent entity in the universe - the Tao or the Holy Ghost (:D that one sorta cracks me up) and Lao Tzu, Buddha, and JC were all drawing from the same well. Or he encountered traveling scholars, not real likely, or he did go there himself.

I'll let you know as soon as I find out.

Excellent point. The sentiment of 'we're better than you' is not lacking in Christendom. The Mormons I grew up with, decent people in many ways, really get off on believing that they've got the special juice.

And Brigham Young and gang did supposedly massacre a group of travelers out in the sticks over some grievance, possibly because they thought the group had some connection to earlier anti-Mormons back east, not sure.

OTOH, though I don't see much use or accuracy in asserting that Islamos are the worst of the worst, there hasn't been much road side summary executions in western Christendom of late, N. Ireland possibly excepted.

Or maybe, just maybe, it is like a friend of mine who claims the company stole her ideas when it is that others came up with the same idea. Seeing how many people are in the world, it is conceivable that many others came up with the same idea when trying to solve the same issue.

OK, how did JC know what the idea was in order to steal it?

Could 3 people in the world come up with the same idea? I would think so. So maybe those guys and JC hit on the same idea? Much like the girl and her employer. Both came up with the same idea or at least very similar and she didn't tell them. How did they steal her idea?

cmac2012 09-26-2013 02:10 AM

Could be that the words of all three were the sort of clearly stated sense that comes to particularly sharp people. No stealing or divine handing down of wisdom involved. I dunno, you tell me.

And that was only the latest manifestation. There were religous wars in Europe for centuries prior to that as well.

Yep, keep proving your ignorance. Northern Ireland had been a hotbed since the 1600s. And for the same exact reason...all due to oppression of a majority.

Yes, religion was usually the dividing line, but it was not the cause of the conflict.

Like I said... read your history. Your argument is nullified.

Mountain Meadows massacre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"At the time of the Fanchers' arrival, the Utah Territory was organized as a theocratic democracy under the lead of Brigham Young, who had established colonies along the California Trail and Old Spanish Trail. President James Buchanan had recently issued an order to send troops to Utah. Rumors spread in the territory about the motives for the federal troop movement. Young issued various orders, urging the local population to prepare for the arrival of the troops. Eventually Young issued a declaration of martial law.[4]"
