I freaked out at first, until I read the sign that breakdown lane driving is ok during rush hour on some of the beltways around Boston, and the stakebody had 3 or 4 cars glued to his a$$ flashing him. God forbid you actually have a reason to be sitting in the breakdown lane though. Then its chaos of people swerving into the slow lane and maintaining their speed around your stricken car.
If you have a breakdown in MA............you're a dead man if you remain anywhere near the vehicle.

I did wait on the shoulder of the LIE for 3 1/2 hours in NYC one time........waiting for a cop that never showed. I did survive and the SD did survive. It was daylight, fortunately. I gave up when sundown approached. My life is worth more than the fender damaged caused by a DB.

They (MA-yeah, you Jooseppi! ) may have the edge, but I don't think our fellow drivers are too far behind. And they're trying real hard to catch up! Having driven a delivery truck around southern N.E. for a couple years, I've dealt with DBs from all of the southern N.E. states. NH seems to be an up-and-coming DB state, likely due to all of the ex-pat MA-holes now living there. VT- and ME-plated DB sightings are still rare, especially in the northern regions, but I'm sure that will change as the DB epidemic continues to spread.

Ugh I hate that state, every time I see a red and white plate they are doing something utterly stupid.

Yeah NH is getting ruined by all the expats. Like all the CA people working on ruining AZ.

So, are you all saying tourists shouldn't go to the Northeast?

In Tempe and especially around A.S.U. there is a few drivers from Massachusetts and New Jersey. If I find out before too late, I avoid them. Or, if they do something, let us say "interesting" I check the pate and am not surprised if from there, Georgia, or Commufornia. It is like a bell curve, the coasts have the big cities in general so have bad drivers, but as you move inward improves. The Midwest, in general, seems to have the most polite drivers and actually use those things called turn signals!

I was wondering what was going on! I hope they aren't Communists, as don't like extremes, which is why I left Commufornia.

And don't forget the snow birds! They are now here and have to remember not to take the freeways unless ten to three. Some of the older folks I don't think should be driving...

No municipality can issue a violation of any "rule" that is on private property. Those stop signs that you see in a parking mall are strictly a recommendation, not a requirement.
I got a ticket parked in a shopping mall, for not displaying a front license plate. $50

And while I was on a trip, the apartment complex towed my vehicle because I forgot to put the registration sticker on before I left. Cost me over $300 to recover! I wasn't very nice then and used to listen to my "mother", so just gave one more reason to leave everything unwanted in the apartment when I got out of there. I now know I am responsible for my actions, so if I get nailed, I just take it.

naa, its a decent place to visit and live. I certainly love it.
Personally my opinion is that the DB quotient is a constant in any area, but the areas of high concentrations of drivers just means a higher number of DBs as a matter of course.

Notice people griping about the eastern seaboard and CA, just more people around to rub shoulders with.

I don't get as irritated as I used to, after last year I had the opportunity to visit Italy and took a week driving tour. Definitely put my complaints in perspective. The average American driver is essentially law abiding, and agressive lunatics stand out because they are out of the norm. Not so in other parts of the world, where rules of the road are treated with less respect.

Well, I love the warm weather to consider ever living anywhere but Arizona!

Then why do drivers from the coasts still drive bad here when middle class culture (not sure how to say this P.C. ...) Arizonians drive better?

Well, in Europe there is less road rules, signage, barriers, and accidents, so go figure!

San Diego is lovely, reasonably cheap if you're willing to live in an apartment (I've seen studios in Pac Beach for like $800-900/mo within a mile of the beach), and there's some great food to be had as well. Proximity to Mexico has its disadvantages but doesn't hurt either in some ways.

Chicago has depressed me the few times I've been there, but maybe I don't know the right places to do. Havana I'll have to wait till they open up travel or till I get my second passport. I've heard Buenos Aires is an interesting and beautiful place...
A blank piece of paper on the first page will suffice.

And then there's all those people from everywhere else who have been ruining CA for decades.

My shop is on the freeway frontage road - east side of 101, about a 1/4 mile from the fabled Bay of SF. As it meanders back towards the freeway from the big intersection maybe 100-200 yards east of the freeway, there's an intersection that would only be a 90 degree turn except for the driveway leading to the back side of the Fed Ex facility there. During the day, mucho large truck traffic on that driveway bit, at night it's perhaps the sleepiest intersection in Menlo Park. I got a ticket for blowing through the stop sign at about 5 mph one night. Was not happy about it.

But, since then, I'm a beaten man. I see cops hiding in that area at least 4 or 5 times a month. I stop at that stop sign, and all others until my car does the shakey thing back an forth an inch or so. F-em. Ticket that mo-fos. Not going to get another penny from me nor have their spotlights in my rear view mirrors for 20 minutes.

It is annoying but I'm pretty sure our roadways would be Road Warrior crazy w/o cops writing tickets.

I take the train into NYC once a year, get lunch and dinner at a couple expensive places, walk around the car show all day and leave. That's plenty of NYC for me.

My two favorite cities right now are Philly and Havana, although I hear Chicago is nice. Omaha is a zombie ghost town and in the middle of nowhere, San Diego is in the wrong state and to expensive.

Also I have noticed in the US the further away from the Northeast you get the worst the food selection gets. Out in the midwest you have three food groups beef, chicken and corn.
Im guessing --new car show.

The only one I went by is.... Stay on the 95, and if I had to get off--only at the big truck stop just north of the Pa / Delaware border.
