Finally, Craigslist starts charging dealers for listing.
No longer can dealers use services to spam up craigslist with 20 pages of garbage a day. $5 per listing flat rate. Now the dealer section has less listings than by owner. You can actually find a car you're looking for, and list without being thrown into purgatory within an hour.
FINALLY!!! I was reluctantly listing by owner because I could not keep up with the automatic services dealers use to spam their cars every day....Putting alot of those companies out of business. I am very happy to pay for this. I just hope that in time people will look in both the by owner and dealer section.

How does that fee compare to other venues?

Last time I used autotrader.com, it was more than $30 for a listing.

Catch-all email addresses are really easy to set up. Who wants to bet that cheapskate dealers will just crap up the "by-owner" section now using 10 different email addys.

They already do it.

Glad to hear this. Excluding dealer car ads from CL searches makes all the difference.

Correct.
I've always thought that craigslist would meet with a bad ending someday, what with all the commercial enterprises on it. Maybe charging fees will clean-up the scum there. I doubt it though....

now i wish they would limit the amount of ads you can post to say 20 a day.there is an antique store close to me that yesterday had well over 100 ads all in a row, took over 2 full pages.they could have grouped their junk to say 5 pieces per ad but no they have to do one at a time.

They do limit/prohibit spam of the type you mentioned. As with all limits, there are ways around them.

I think it's time another 'craigslist' takes the place of the current sellout craigslist.
I thought the original rules of cl were not to have any commercial businesses spamming with their stuff they were selling as purely a business enterprise. It's a hodgepodge of commercial enterprise cr A p as it is now. Charging the businesses will only drive them further into the free ads used by the non-commercial ads, further spamming up the non-commercial user's ads.
