What are Euros?

I know I know -- WAY dumb question, but coming from me, that's pretty much typical. Are these the headlights that are very bright and have that harsh white look to them?

My 190e's lights are very dim I think. I drive on a lot of back, country roads, and I find myself getting a bit nervous sometimes because curves seem to creep up much more quickly. I thought that my Buick had better headlights. (The ONLY good thing I'll say about that piece of junk).

The european headlight, or Euros as a lot fo us call them, have quite a few advantages over standard U.S. Lights.
They look better and The light beam pattern is better. They do light up the road more. I do not think they appear white, but they do have more light output than standard U.S. Lights.

They only take a small tool box, a little logic on the wiring and about 3 hours to do it right! the prices range from $300 to $500 for a set depending on brand. There are very nice less expensive($300) sets avalable. I have a set like this with the vacuum actuators. Check out my pic below to see what the "euros" look like. they are quite different from US, internally and externally.
Hope this helps!
Adam

3 hours? Adam, were ya drinkin'? Just joshin' ya, amigo, but I can change the headlight clusters in 1/2 hr, add maybe another 1/2 hr. to wire in the city lights. VERY easy job, and I'm not a pro.

I don't know about Adam, but whenever I work on a project I always figure out how much time I think it will take and then double it to allow for the Hidden Bummer Factor .

Inevitably there is something that takes longer than it should, especially if I'm handling the work.

Usually the typical DIY'er will be able to install these in 30-60min. give or take a few depending what model....

About the cost of these Euro lights. Adam is about right but if you seek a little bit lower in price , you can always try ebay...

just my 2cents....

euro lights are absolutely awesome, it is the only way to see at night.

i attaching a picture and a couple of links. PLEASE only buy hella or bosch, oem mercedes lights. there are numerous quality control issues with off-brand/aftermarket cheap lights and this has also been a very hotly debated subject!!

do a "search" here on euro lights. there are hundreds of posts.

Excellent links, Peter!

You're the man. I think you should be designated as the in-house Euro light expert.

I'm going to bookmark these links for future reference.

I want some!

I've been looking at pictures of European 116's for the last several months and I've decided I really like the look of the headlights on those dudes.
Does anyone know where Euro's for the 116 chassis can be obtained?

No question I like to take my time! Okay, Three hours is divided into mechanical installation, with a little of alignlent in between. Wiring CORRECTLY,,,,, solidering, cutting to fit the four pin connectors to fit the six pins, arranging the connectors in correct order.. Then,, installing the vacuum hoses and regulator dial for the headlamp actuation....... Yep,, 3 hours sounds about right! If you count the HID installation,, make it five hours. They look great and (most importantly) work great after all the work.

Cool Thanks ebennz

Thanks for the links. That'll keep me busy for a bit.

BTW, where abouts in West Virginia are you? I grew up in Charleston but I moved away in 1983.
