Tried some scotch...

And didn't like it.

Flavor was meh - just tasted like alcohol to me. Was a bottle of Macallan - 12 year.

Thinking I'll just stick to my beer, vodka, or tequila.

good idea: more Scotch for me and those like me....;)

Macallan? Oh God, that stuff is awful! Send me the remainder of the bottle immediately and promise never to buy it again!

PM me for my mailing address . . .

Yeah really...Vodka over Scotch? Scotch tastes like alcohol?

But ..beer wins anyway.

Eh, can't really mix scotch with anything (don't drink soda anymore).

Tequila and Vodka I can mix with a plethora of energy drinks and juices. (which I will continue to do!)

If it's good scotch, then you don't want to mix it with anything.

That too.

last scotch I had was probably 5-8 years ago. Friend was cleaning out a deceased great-aunts house and came across a bottle that was at least 50 years old. We were camping at the racetrack and she brought out the bottle and a stack of shot glasses. Stuff was so good it just about evaporated on your tongue. It was so good I went back for a second shot and I don't drink! (took quite a bit of arm twisting to get me to the first one.)

I used to have a friend who traveled to Europe on business. Most of the time he brought back liquors and whiskeys the likes my lips had never touched. One time we were sitting around talking about the weather and out of the clear blue he says, "Husky, I've got a $500 bottle of scotch, you wanna try it out?" My ears immediately perked up and I immediately answered in the affirmative.

It was like liquid gold, smoothest scotch ever!! It made me want to travel to Scotland and get into some more of that stuff. Only one problem, once you've had the good stuff, it is very difficult to go back to the cheap crap.:D:D

I like mine on the rocks. You should try it any way you want. Don't let people tell you how to drink your whiskey.

See I don't like my scotch TOO good. If its too smooth, I think you loose some of the occasion. I like Johnny Black, and love blue, but for as expensive as it has gotten you don't get much out of it its so smooth. I like a little bite to it, but I won't drink the cheap stuff anymore either.

A friend just brought me a bottle French Whiskey, and I am blanking on the name right now, ended up getting another bottle in the US, very solid $50 bottle of whiskey.

Its a fact that adding a drop of water, or large piece of ice (surface area is the key as I understand it) to a whiskey will change the flavor profile and add some extra dimension of flavor.

I prefer mine neat, but I certainly understand people who drink it on the rocks or with a dash of water.

Absolutely right... The Macallan is nasty stuff, and should not be consumed by anyone.
If you send me the rest of the bottle I will dispose of it properly for you, at no charge...:D
