Can anyone lead me in the right direction

on this one? I bought this painting the other day at the Good Will, got it home started looking at it noticed it said 65 at the bottom did a little research and couldn't figure out much of anything and was wondering if anyone here knows anything about this area of art.

The signature at the bottom says

J.Cabehe
P.I 65

The J might be an H. also the canvas is nailed to the wood with odd looking nails.

I did, and the best I could find is that "Cabehe" might not be the artists name but the place the where the painting was painted in 1865. I read that some artist penciled or charcoaled the subject and then later closely oversaw the painting in of the drawing. I was just looking for more info. Google has nothing more that I could. I though with the caliber of people on tis forum, that there would be a person(s) who would have a vast knowledge of fine art. I figured someone like mti, msfowler or my one buddy his name is escaping me now, he's been on here for at least 100 years, he's always teasing me, anyways I thought one of those three would know something about paintings. I'm going to continue to research and will let you guys know what I find. Who knows maybe it will be worth $100.

You can contact a art auction house and ask them to take a look. They see things like this on a daily basis and have some folks that know a little about everything when it comes to art.

They are, of course, looking for things to put in a auction and snag a 30% commission on so they don't mind giving a quick opinion on anything that is put in front of them. I have been told that some of their best finds come in like this.

I emailed such a place in Lexington Monday and am waiting to hear back from them.

Something about that painting seemed familiar after I thought about it.. I think I may have seen one before is a real possibility. Or something very similar to it.

By my perspective the length of the forearms seem elongated a little. Or that is the thing I remember from what I originally saw as well.

As to value I have no clue but the one I saw was prior to todays dollar stores arrival on the scene.
