Bought something (else)
The time has come for me to put my bmw up for sale (it'll pop up in the classifieds soon) and get something cheaper. Some of you might recall I received an almost-free explorer...still a work in progress but I no longer need the 135 to do double duty. It's also more expensive than I like. So I finally pulled the trigger and got a car I've been talking about and thinking about for years (though not sure if any of you have been victims of this banter). It is a car. Go!

Hmm. Fail - wheel - drive or right - wheel - drive?
Doors? Country of origin? I'm going to say 930 Turbo. Fits what I believe are your requirements. |

Sorry to hear that you got rid of the Bimmer. I still like mine so far, and at the rate I am going will use up the extended 100k warranty in 2-3 years - and post-warranty repair costs are supposedly horrendous - so maybe I'll pick up a 1-2 year old CPO unit after they do the mid-cycle refresh of the 5 series in '17. That would be in about 2019 or 2020 I reckon.
Unless this one that I have runs out ok - then maybe - probably - I will keep it. Going to Dinan to have it souped up certainly was worth the money. (Buying a new M5 was *NOT*, for my driving and budget). Looking forward to hear what the new car is: I have no idea what you selected. Probably a good sports car from a car maker we kicked the stuffing out of during World War II though I would guess. Whatever it is, good luck, stay safe but have FUN! I'd add that if it's a sports car a great idea would be to spend about $800-$1000 more to take a high performance driving school weekend, @ Skippy Barber, Bob Bondurant or similar; it'll make you a safer, more confident driver, more in control of your car, and heighten you ability to avoid accidents you might otherwise blunder into. You'll likely become more aware of kinesthetics, and the science behind better driving ability and techniques. Things that could last you a lifetime, and possibly save you from LOTS of road different dangers that could arise instantly. |

Thanks Jim! I was faced with either spending a few grand on a warranty or cutting my losses, along with a pretty hefty monthly bill after gas and insurance. I'd rather go cheaper. I still have the bmw, I am getting it appraised and hopefully selling it private party. Awesome car to drive, love it but it is expensive and high strung for me...it's like trying to wrangle a live electrical wire. Great for performance driving but unfortunately that isn't much of my commute. I'd get another in a heartbeat if I wasn't concerned about the money. Sent from an abacus |
