condition is decent, was cheap because 170k on it. However the 2.0 zetec is a good motor, and it had complete maintenance history. I have been pretty impressed at the space layout of the escape platform, a very roomy small crossover vehicle. This variant is 240D simple to maintain. Some rust to fix,a rip in the seat, and removal of truly awful tinting job, and this is a DD for the next couple years at least. Ive been keeping my eye out for one ever since I came across this escape version at work. Guy has 350k on his and treats it like crap. still drove it every day. Came with a bonus CD of Notorious BIG in the stereo. http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/...pszxjlotrh.jpg http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5eclg4ol.jpg http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/...psqo7ytlou.jpg http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/...psmr371iuw.jpg |
Nice! I didn't realize those came in a 5 speed. Is it AWD/4WD?

I was checking those out for a while before getting the rx8. They're super cheap. Why such a high depreciation? I know one of the focus engines was generally problematic but I don't know how that crosses to the escape. The escape (not the new ones) are such a great size and pretty comfortable.

Definitely enjoying the size for sure. Gonna see how long i can keep this going, need something for future family reasons. |
Ooh, I just saw the perfect family vehicle today: 5-speed Previa. RWD, Mid-engined 5-speed minivan.

...but you have a point :). |
The principle problem with the previa is not maintaining the mid engine, as you pop out the passenger seat and there is an engine hatch that gives you decent access; its that all its accessories are still up front, driven by their own special driveshaft, along with everything else being more involved. Its an amazingly complex vehicle for something thats only closely comparable to its front engine competitors, with less power.
The supercharged variant was supercharged only so the nearly flat 4 could stay within shouting distance of competetor v6 plants. |

Interesting update. Ford has tracked me down for a TSB to replace the entire subframe up front from what i understand. I guess they have a rusting problem that results in certain death effectively.
Other than that i am enjoying this vehicle. It is the first wagon/hatchback style vehicle i have ever had where the rear seats can be folded flat with the driver seat as far back as it can go. Excellent for utility use so far. |
^ nice!! Yeah mazda did the same for me with the airbag recall. I was surprised but I suppose they just upload a list of vins to the state and the state provides registered addresses.
