The easiest (and only real) way to disable this crap is to create a local account, not use an M$ account to log into Windows. Otherwise, setting, wifi password, etc data will be pushed to the cloud, as well as being mutable by Microsoft.

You can still log in to the MS store (if you even need it) manually.

It means that it is going to start raining data soon...

Win10 allows you to download Microsoft's maps of various regions so that you can have them even when you're not online. I'm grabbing MA, NH, and VT right now...

This is an interesting feature:

Windows 10 may share your Wi-Fi password with Facebook | Fox News

When Wi-Fi Sense is enabled, anyone you have in your Skype, Outlook or Hotmail contacts lists — and any of your Facebook friends — can be granted access to your Wi-Fi network as long as they're within range. Microsoft added this feature to save users' time and hassle, but as independent security blogger Brian Krebs put it, some security experts see it as "a disaster waiting to happen."

Lost all sound and could not get it to work. Had to get the 8.1 driver from ASUS.

Well, my screen is glitching into weird colors and being non-responsive. However, it generally comes back to life when I smack it, so I'm going to attribute that to a hardware issue... other than that, life with Win10 has been good so far.

EDIT: It's a hardware issue, and I'll have to send it out to get it fixed... fortunately, it's still under warranty.

So is it recommended to accept the free update?

Mölyapina 08-01-2015 07:09 PM

I think most people say to wait a month to let all the bugs get sorted out. But yeah, I would say it's an improvement over Windows 8/8.1.

I did. Not too difficult to fix for now.

I ran the upgrade on my one computer. Didn't have any problems. Looks good so far, attractive and quick.

Still waiting for the reservation. :D

Weird. The wife's machine didn't come thru yet but mine updated 7/29. Same house, same date of reservation, IIRC.
