Glad to see the Leafs win - The Senators played too dirty to go on to another round. There is so much skill, strategy, and situational awarness to the game that the needless checks just detract, IMHO. My son plays on 3 teams in non-check (yeah, right!) leagues at Disney Ice. The rec league games where the players have to focus on their skills instead of maiming other players are a lot more interesting to watch than some of the pro games.

So yeah, Go Leafs!

I was really hoping Montreal would go somewhere, I really liked their team this year, but they fell apart

JCE, I think checking is part of the game, but I gotta agree that it tends to go to far sometimes. If you watched the olympics, thats the kind of hockey I love, they still check, but no dirty plays, and it was the most entertaining hockey I've watched in a while.

My son plays defense as well. Physical play goes with the turf, but dirty or malicious play is optional and contributes nothing to the game IMHO. He plays clean, and was sent to the All Star team (where he got a hat trick!) by his team for breaking up the most plays - a master at poke checking the puck out of the other players drive, and kamikaze dives in front of slap shots. His goalie loves him! BUT, he does it clean. At worst, he usually finds a way to let a dirty player take himself out while they are trying to maim him.

These games are just about like watching the Olympics (I agree the most enjoyable games I have watched) - Lots of skill, intense physical effort to gain/keep possession of the Oreo, but relatively few deliberate attempts to injure the opposition.

WHAT?? OLYMPIC HOCKEY???
the only reason why there are more fancy plays is because you have the best players in the world and the open ice.

NOTHING beats playoff hockey between 2 good teams...like detriot vs colorado. The olympics was just a big show, the Stanley Cup playoff is where the heart comes into play...just look at how Gary Roberts has boost his play...2nd in playoff scoring.

I rather see a fight then the garbage you see in olympic hockey, you can't find at all, or u'll get suspended.
GO LEAFS GO!!!
