I can only imagine the pain of losing a child.

Grandsons are excellent tonic though. My grandchildren never fail to put a smile on my face!

That's great! Walking will make you feel better mentally too probably. Sounds like you are healing from the loss of you daughter.

Love those grandchildren!

Yes the importance of the day increases with age at least to me. I get to reflect on the good as well as the bad. Hopefully the good far out weights the bad.

I know I tried to be a good father in all ways. Still do. Absolutly nobody is perfect is a reality in this world as well.

It also is a little more difficult to maintain family unity today when your children and grandchildren land up all over the place. Some you see far less than others is pretty much unavoidable.

I'm lucky. Four of my five children live here within walking distance. The fifth lives in Columbus Oh which is 3.5 to 4 hr drive. Not bad. When this lucky on living places its a good idea not to complain much about anything.

I had to share this. My wife and my #3 daughter both bought me a cool card. The same one. Matches my Bonneville.

OS, I am 7 or 8 years older than you are -- it will be 80 next April -- and can tell you that you have some good years in front of you. Walks like those you mentioned in your prior post have been good for me. The best time for walking is before 9 a.m., because the that's the cool part of the day and neighbors are out. You get to know them better and develop friendships.

Another thing is to go to a McDonald's near you where old guys congregate for an hour or longer in the mornings over that cup of Senior Coffee. My wife calls it a waste of time; to me, it's an opportunity to talk with neighbors.

Being active in your seventies often means little more than getting out of the house for a while and moving your feet some. Never spend a whole day in your house unless you are sick.
