Talking My new MP3 Deck !!!

I chose to get a MP3 player in my w126 to replace my 2 year old JVC ordinary cd player (in-dash). I chose the Pioneer because it is my favourite brand and this unit looks and sounds awesome. EVEN HAS SCREENSAVERS!!!

here is a link to the site of the deck:

Tell me what you think??

Is it just me, or is everybody getting Pioneer head units?

I installed the Pioneer in my car, and it's the best sound unit I've ever had. And I've always had Alpine.

I've heard that MOSFET is the reason, whatever the hell MOSFET means.

Looks great!

When I was buying my Pioneer head unit I thought it was going to look out of place in my 19 yr old car. It turned out a lot better! Pioneer decks look clean and classy, I love 'em! Yet, they look modern at the same time.

Well I've always had pioneer or alpine myself.

I have always liked pioneer units. The best unit I had, was my premier unit with premier changer years back. It had digital compensation, and other features for the cd changer that really enhanced the sound.

MOSFET = Metal Oxise Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (hey look, university does come in useful!) and generally gives better quality amplification.

I don't like Pioneer units, I find them a little confusing to use. Most modern units sound noticeably better than units from just 4/5 years ago - I guess they're fitting better quality amps. No match for an external one though .
That 8400 Pioneer looks very nice, not too cheap though!

Benzonline - how does the browsing work on that player? My Kenwood MP6090 is not so simple as I hoped, and annoying as you can't browse the names of the tracks, only the folders, and you can't browse at all while playing the CD.

later!

Not sure of how to browse or anything yet but the reviews i read were very good for the unit and everyone gave it 5 stars. You think it will look good in the 126??

Thumbs down SONY IS BETTER THAN PIONEER

I have always used SONY and I can tell you it is a better deck than a pioneer any day . I have a friend who has exactly the same audio arrangement as i have in my car using pioneer and we played the same cd (wyclefs ecleftic -Runaway track) and men the difference was clear.

This was a deck that was compared as an equal to my SONY on CNET with 5 stars and alldat.

so i think whats good for u might be bad for others. My sony solution is excellent in my car and I dont use subwoofers and all dat .

Besides Pioneers are not too intuitive to use.

You are the only person in this world that told me that Sony is better than Pioneer in terms of car audio. I dont like how they look anyways and I already have my heart set out on the Pioneer.

Sony makes good units. I like sony, But just not in my car. In My home, I'll take a good sony unit though.

In my car, I prefer pioneer and alpine.

I agree with Ashman.

Since 1992, I have only used Sony and Alpine in all of my cars, and went back and forth from each brand, depending what was on sale at the time.

I went to the installer near Mercedes Benz of Mission Viejo to redo the system in my 93 300E. He works on all the factory Bekker (sp??) radios on the used Mercedes on their lot.

He is a factory authorized dealer / repair facility for Bekker, Alpine, Sony, and Pioneer.

He told me that he believed Pioneer was the best. In fact, he has a Pioneer unit in his own SL500, and his installer has a Pioneer in his pick-up truck.

I was kind of surprised, because I always considered Sony and Alpine to have a better reputation, but as I've said before, I'm a convert. It just puts out better sound.

And what's more, they're much more reasonable compared to the other brands.

I just got a Pioneer system for my room in my house and was taken away!! Its amazing. 280 watts for a mini system, with great looks and features and all kinds of inputs for only $300 canadian!!! So now I want a mp3 unit in my car and now my mind is made with Pioneer!
