Either way if initial setup included the exhaust leak then any map will be wrong.

Post Exhaust Dilution

A tiny leak will upset any closed loop system, dilution is a common cause for failure of emissions tests .

How far ahead of the muffler? Does it have long tube headers or shorties? Is the sensor in the header collector?

Positive I assume? If so are both the long term and short term positive? If they are both positive it is trying to compensate for a lean condition. If the exhaust leak is considerably downstream from the sensor then I’m not sure it’s your problem, but I agree with Nate. Correcting the leak first would definitely be the way to approach it IMHO.

Right about at the beginning of the muff. Tubes are about 3' before they bundle together. Sensor is not in the collection point but near it.

The leak is not downstream from the sensor but between it and the engine.

Oh yeah. In that case the leak has to be fixed before doing anything else. If the system was set up even close, I’ll bet everything is fine after the leak is fixed. Break out the MIG welder or whatever it takes.

Yesterday and today I have been looking at wheels and tires for the cobra. currently I have two different wheels front and rear. They are similar in appearance but upon examination are different.

The car originally had four 16" Compomotive wheels two 8.5" and two 11". One of the PO put the car sideways into the curb and bent one of the center sections of a rear wheel. The PO then bought four 17" rims and tires in a similar wheel, probably because of the lack of availibility of the 16" rims. I did not like the 17" wheels because the offset put the outer edge of the tire in a place where it rubbed the fender.

I first tried to find exact 16" replacements with no luck. In checking the last two days I find there is a company in the UK which will make me a matching wheel in whatever size I might want...but... Tire availability for the 16" rims is limited.

1. So one possibility is to buy one 16" rear rim to match the good original one which is with the idea of being able to make the car exactly like it was when built. To use it like this would then require two new tires in addition to the one wheel.

2. Another possibility is to buy four new 17" rims which other than the diameter are identical to the original wheels. This would also lead to four new tires.

3. Cheapest and most practical is to just keep the mismatched rims and put on new tires on the rear only.

4. Another possibility is to keep the rims I currently have on the car, original 16" compomotive three piece in front and 17" another brand which is two piece not a perfet match and buy two or four new tires.

This is the cheapest too.

Thoughts?

Kind of depends on how much sidewall you want also. I like the look of staggered wheels.

Yesterday and today I have been going through all the receipts to document what the car was originally and what it has evolved to now. It is pretty interesting reading.
