Stuff like this always amazes me. I was watching a show on the Science channel about space. One segment said that is a astronaut on the moon held out a pencil at arms length, the portion of space obscured by the eraser would have as many galaxies as there are stars in our galaxy. Expand that out to the entirety of space and you are talking about numbers that are probably beyond the human understanding of numbers.

The scale of space is just something that is difficult to grasp. I think it is hard for many people to grasp the idea that there may not be any boundaries. Many people seem to think of everything as having a beginning and an end and that many not necessarily be the case.

They were also addressing the idea of long term space travel and the problems that would need to be over come. We would have to design a massive craft able to sustain a few thousand people for several hundred years. It would have to be completely self sufficient, able to conduct repairs, have a command structure that would be stable for the duration just to mention a few obstacles.

Awesome picture. Who made it? Iroincally I was just out observing the moon last night with out little 4.5 inch Orion. Fantastic seeing. Some of the best craters within craters, rills and cracks I've even seen.

What? My Triple A (Astronautical Auto Association) doesn't cover free towing and repair shop recommendations? What fricking good is the extra rider my agent has me paying for? I'm beginning to think that agent (I believe his name was Klaatu) was a bit of a scam artist.

I believe this particular shot was captured by the Japanese satellite Hayabusa 2 on it's way to a asteroid.

No chit. Saw a show a wile back called Pinks All out. They were running bikes that week and the dude brought his to the race. I do not recall the exact stats but I do seem to remember that I was listing to the stats of a medium sized car. The guy said his was pushing over 550hp. They ran for cash instead of pinks (neither wanted to part with their ride). The light dropped and that dude was gone. Never seen anything take off like that.
