Scientists solve 400-year-old mystery of Prince Rupert's drops

I was surfing Youtube videos and came across a guy shooting these things with a AK and filming it with a high speed camera. I looked up the drop and found this article. I will not even pretend I have the faintest idea what this guy is talking about but it just looks cool. And the fact that you can take a hammer to the head without incident yet if you bend the tail the whole thing will just explode is just very cool.

Fascinating indeed. Would that S. Chandrasekhar be the same one of the Chandrasekhar limit?

Most likely the video you saw of a guy shooting these drops was from Smarter Every Day. Here is that video.

I really enjoyed the cat dropping vid, but that's just me.

This was explained in nice lay-person's terms on "smarter every day" - here's the youtube:

darn - didn't see blt had that already.

Odd thing - smarter every day - 2013, phys.org article - 2017. Hmm.
