You still don't get it. It's not about "tech" or being a cool guy with a pdk or whatever at cars and coffee. It's about a pure driving experience. I wouldn't buy a new car for 100 reasons but I dont like abs, traction control, or any automated BS. The reason is that I want to DRIVE MY CAR MYSELF, this generation has just proclaimed " I'm not good at this and I don't want to learn so I'll have a computer do it for me. " And it's worn off on everything and everyone. That crap is great for most people because they suck at driving, BUT it also just continues to make people worse drivers. I watched a guy key fob his Tesla out of a parking space the other day. Someone mentioned that they were faster around a track with a pdk than a manual but still preferred a manual. Unless you are someone like that I'll bet my feet are better abs and traction control than your computer on a race track. That **** keeping you from running into people on the street and improving lap times are very different. The cleetus McFarland YouTube channel just did a review on the c8 and the traction control was cutting in alot until he cut it off. If you want to keep up with the Joneses at cars and coffee you can have your computers. I'll still take 3 pedals all day long. Good luck pop starting your car when your overused start-stop feature kills a starter in 10 years. Or figuring out what is wrong when it won't go into gear, hell I can drive my car with no clutch pedal in an emergency.

I seriously doubt that. There is no human way for you to pulse your brakes at the rate the ABS computer does. There is no way for you to detect wheel slip or lock up as quickly as a computer does.
I loved my 190e. Miss it every day. My newer C250 does everything my 190e so much better. It is more reliable, it is safer by country mile with the air bags, traction control, ABS, stronger passenger compartment ... etc.
My guess is that 99.9% of cars are used for transportation. They are not used for racing. So the issue of traction control kicking in to save you from over steer/under steer is not an issue. Reducing 0-60 by 1/10th is not an issue.
When people are looking for a vehicle they are usually looking for comfort and safety. The new systems available on cars make them more comfortable and safer. My A/C system keeps the car at a comfortable temp regardless. I have had it 4 yrs now and I never have to mess with it other than when Ms Mash gets in and thinks it is too cold/hot.
Are the new cars as reliable .. nope. They are far more complex. Unfortunately, we live in a disposable age. Not sure how long our cars will last. We do not drive all that much. The C250 has less than 50k on it and the GLK just turned 61k I think. I figure they are good for another 10 yrs or so. Then we will move on.
Car manufactures are not making cars for us. They are making them for the other 99.9% of the people. If you want your old cars with no computers and four on the floor then knock your self out. Keep your older vehicles and keep them maintained. Just for god sakes, stop b1tching about manufactures not making cars for "you". That is not their job. They will not stay in business that way. You are not that freaking special. So get on the bus or shut up and get out of the way.
Manuals are yesterdays news. ABS/traction control/lane departure/self parking/GPS/bluetooth and other tech is the current tech and here to stay. Whine all you want. No one cares.
