I guess I dress like the sixties and seventies too. No bell bottoms though.

Not really. We were there for two weeks so buying local clothes was not in the cards.

As far as the road block, they were stopping everybody.

I think they may have been democrats as I think they allowed people to pay what they could afford. (That is a joke).

They were most definitely Democrats. Had they not been, they wouldnt have been engaged in such activity. (You took it political, not me.

You gotta admit it was funny though.

I spent a few years in Germany with the military(that's where I bought my first Benz) and traveled quite a bit while there. But I left wanting more. Yea Paris was not that great-very crowded and touristy.

Depending on where you want to go and what you want to do in Europe, the crowds might not be that bad. I lived in Germany a few years while in the Army and worked in Western Europe a lot in the early 2000’s. We were there for three weeks in 2017 and are going back for 18 days next April. I prefer going places away from the cities like on the Rhine or in the Alps. Crowds are not much of a factor for that kind of travel. My wife wants to go to Paris this trip and I will accommodate her, but France, especially Paris is my least favorite part of Europe to visit. One exception is the South of France. Monaco and along the Med in that area is a great place to visit.

Yes Tony, that’s where I was introduced to the Benz as well.

I grew up in my Dads independent car repair shop, so once in the Army I ended up helping people with their cars at a time when there were. VERY FEW foreign cars in the US. I got to Germany and worked on a few guys cars. One day a guy brought me a fin back, six cylinder sedan. Don’t remember the exact model. I opened the hood and couldn’t believe what I saw. It was built differently from anything I’d ever seen. It had a burnt valve due to an intake runner leak. I had to come up with makeshift Metric tools, but I pulled the head, had it done and put it back on. The way it came apart and back together was amazing. From that point forward I was a Benz fan.

Not a flip answer here, I am serious, I want to 'drop acid' once in my life.

Sounds like we all want to travel! Laps at the Nurburgring are on my list as well as a trip to monaco and swinging up through alsace. Wife and I just finished up a bucket list trip to australia that crossed a couple off. This year we are planning on going to the goodwood revival weekend and probably somewere else TBD.

Yes, especially for a Formula One fan Monaco is a good one. I’ve been there three times and driven through the tunnel more times than that. I also sat on the North side of the Bay at an open air restaurant as the Sun was going down looking across at the hill where the palace is located. We also attended a yacht show that was amazing. Never been there for the race though.

all I want for the holidays is.....

My bucket list/goal is to stop voluntary participation in the 10 planks/goals of the communist party:

Marx and Engels go on to state the 10 goals of the Communist Party (my comments in parenthesis):
  1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes. (think: property tax)
  2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax (needs no explanation).
  3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
  4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels (anyone the state doesn't like).
  5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
  6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State. (NSA currently listens and records all telephone conversations)
  7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
  8. Equal liability of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture. (fruits of your labor belong to the state)
  9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.
  10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc.

While I realize all of us were raised via well meaning parents, formal indoctrination through public school education, news media, etc. to be good little commies, I've decided communism just isn't for me. What you do in your life is your business.

You're funny.
