I spent a few years in Germany with the military(that's where I bought my first Benz) and traveled quite a bit while there. But I left wanting more. Yea Paris was not that great-very crowded and touristy.

I grew up in my Dads independent car repair shop, so once in the Army I ended up helping people with their cars at a time when there were. VERY FEW foreign cars in the US. I got to Germany and worked on a few guys cars. One day a guy brought me a fin back, six cylinder sedan. Don’t remember the exact model. I opened the hood and couldn’t believe what I saw. It was built differently from anything I’d ever seen. It had a burnt valve due to an intake runner leak. I had to come up with makeshift Metric tools, but I pulled the head, had it done and put it back on. The way it came apart and back together was amazing. From that point forward I was a Benz fan.

Sounds like we all want to travel! Laps at the Nurburgring are on my list as well as a trip to monaco and swinging up through alsace. Wife and I just finished up a bucket list trip to australia that crossed a couple off. This year we are planning on going to the goodwood revival weekend and probably somewere else TBD.

Yes, especially for a Formula One fan Monaco is a good one. I’ve been there three times and driven through the tunnel more times than that. I also sat on the North side of the Bay at an open air restaurant as the Sun was going down looking across at the hill where the palace is located. We also attended a yacht show that was amazing. Never been there for the race though.
