That is basically a top fuel dragster engine in a boat. If they figured out how to put that power down without cavitation I am not surprised. Very cool.

And the top fuel dragsters and funny cars do a complete engine tear down after a sub 4 second pass, complete with clutches for the transmission also.

I live on a big lake and have several friends with "go fast" boats. The fastest I've been is 126 MPH. Wife road later and they did 142 MPH. We made a concious decsion not to ride toegether because we know it's dangerous.

I wouldn't ride at high speed with just anybody. The guy I rode with 1) is a former NASCAR truck series racer 2) is a former national drag boat champion and 3) has had the same boat (38' Skater catamaran hull with twin Mercury 1100 HP racing engines) for about 8 years.

We didn't go really fast very long. We cruised around 80 or 90 and then when the path in front was clear for about as far as you couold see (all the pontoon boats and jet skis headed away from our intended line), he would open it up and accellerate to the higher speeds. Rode maybe 10 seconds or so fast and then he'd back it down. Our 30 mile long lake is not very big at high speed.

If you're sitting in the front sea under the canopy, it is very calm. If you're in the back seat, your face looks like that NASA test pilot on the sled in the 1960's.

Found a pic of the boat I was describing. I was a little off in my description from memory. It is a Skater 36 and it only has twin 700 HP Sterling racing engines.
