Michael Jordan's 1996 S600 Sold For $202,200!
Originally owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan, the S600 sold here in LA for $202,200! Listed August 13th, it had an opening bid of $23, in tribute to Jordan's iconic jersey number, but the first bid hit $150,000. According to Hagerty Price Guide, its worth is only $12,000. Worth it?

I do not understand collectors. I get something that has intrinsic value in terms of quality and rareness ... a Stradivarius, a Monet, Lalique.... etc. I do not care who owned something. Over paying by $190k because some sports person own a run of the mill Benz just strikes me as silly.
Aside from that, I think the wheels are horrendous and I hate the exhaust tips showing on that car. I would cut them off and tuck them back under the bumper like the original. The wing is also has to go. No idea how messed the interior is.

I can see a celebrity piece going for a bit more. Not that much more. The McQueen Bullit Mustang is an example. Yes, a lot more considering McQueen and the iconic movie, but still way over priced. OK, that is the market presently.

North America has a society that ninety five percent of the money is owned or controlled by less than five percent of the population. This kind of money to them is really just pocket change in reality.
Actually it appears the very rich are getting more and more control over many facets of existence. For the remainder of the population. The evolution of the very rich is very hard to track. I have to assume that the old expression the more you have the more you want. From what I observe out there is true. I on occasion detect some of their little more than scams. I do have some difficulty with the bulk of the population just accepting them. At face value. Sorry about the rant. A thread like this one reminds me that understanding the reality of the society is lacking, Perhaps to some extent. |
