Pagota with 3.5 engine transplant on BAT

Gone are the days when an engine transplant hurts value-check out this 280SL with a 3.5L transplant-probably twice at $226k the same un-modified car would go for.

Nice. The color combo is perfect. Not sure if filters were used but that paint looks flawless. Engine bay looks like it was born that way. Quarter million? I think that is goofy but someone obviously wanted it. If I had the cash laying around...sure. A nice reliable car that kept iy's old school looks....I have always been partial to resto-mods.

Hatch and Sons built a pair of 280 SL 3.5's years ago. This is one of them:

Mechatronik has been building V8 powered 113's for a while but it's much more than an engine transplant.

That seems a little over the top. I think a later aluminum V8 engine would make more sense unless it's for the eccentricity of it.

I think this was built a good while back....30 years? Also from a packaging standpoint I am not sure the 6.3 is much different from the 3.5 in external size.

I once saw a 107 with a Chrysler hemi in it at the big Auburn auction.
