A new temptation in the world

They claim it’s the equivalent of 12 ounces of bacon uncooked. I assume the claim about being nitrite/nitrate free is accurate.

The stuff is pretty good. Ready to eat. Proceed with caution.

not accurate.

Note the asterisk and the disclaimer where it states “except for natural occurring nitrates in celery powder”.

Nitrates is nitrates, regardless of if it comes from celery or a lab.

It’s still cured with nitrates.

They’re using nitrates from celery, beets, and other vegetables.

It’s still cured and has all the health issues associated with cured meats made with nitrates made by “artificial” processes.

Technically, an un cured meat would be raw meat which isn’t processed with nitrates.

Uncured meat is a marketing term used to sell bacon to people concerned with the health precautions associated with nitrate cured meats.

The difference is solely in how you feel about it.

I now agree with that, I hadn’t known about it. Your explanation was compelling. Confirming it with this excellent article has convinced me:

The packaging is healthier to eat than its contents…

I am not inclined to dismiss pork as inherently not good for health, not nutritious, etc. Numerous of our ancestors ate wild pork, to a high degree of certainty anyway.

Most of the bad outcomes talk about 50 grams per day. I might have three or four pieces every two weeks. Maybe I’m a sucker, but this bacon seems ideally cooked.

Pork is pork. Just another red meat.

Cured meats a whole nother thang.

I like bacon, hot dogs, prosciutto, etc.

My doc says not for me anymore.

She also says no more red meat. Pretty much there once I clean out freezer of existing inventory.

Ringo Starr lyrics on the topic of quitting drugs:

(I will quit), just let me finish what I got,

Lord knows the stuff sure cost a lot.

I’m pretty sure that many of the problems with any meat is a result of what you eat with it. Could I quiz you briefly, what would you eat along with bacon or any other red meat in the last year or two?
