Now for something completely different

On the way through Phoenix today, I stopped at a Barnes & Noble. Figured I might stock up on something to read in case I get a little bored in my off time. They had the Jan '03 issue of Mercedes Enthusiast, so I picked it up. They are a tad bit proud of that mag, cost something like $8.00+, but has some nice articles. Nice piece on a W116 280SE with only 10.5K miles. Kinda hard getting used to seeing all the steering wheels on the wrong side though. Am contemplating springing the nearly $50/year but I'll wait to see if I can find the next issue first.

If anyone else has seen this issue, did you happen to notice TxBill's letter to the editor? Even has a picture and caption, but I don't think the TD is one of Bill's rides.

It could have been written at a time when he had my 81 TD (teal) or perhaps it refered to the 80 TD which his sister has....there can be three months lag time on printed magizines....

Mike, you shouldn't worry about the steering wheels I find it scary that you all drive on the wrong side of the road Are you on patrol new years eve/day?If you are I hope it passes peacefully.Happy new year from the UK

Mike,

Just do what I do: hold the magazine in front of you and stand with your back to a well lit mirror. What's amazing is that you'll notice all the steering wheels end up on the correct (left) side of the car!!

PS What that also does to the print is a problem I'm still working on.....

Well it turns out I'll be working an early swing shift 11A-7P, which means I'll be heading back to the motel just about happy time on New Years Eve. I do have New Years Day off though, so I'll probably have to imbibe heavily as soon as I get back to the motel, to take advantage of the day off .

Did some poking about the laptop and found that the dial-up capabilities have been locked out by the administrator, so I'm stuck having to fight over the motel's internet line. Thought I'd had the laptop beat today, until it came time to set up the dialer. Oh well .
