audio sound from windows xp?
Dont know if anyone here has a decent sounding sound system hooked up to their computer but I have a big pioneer system hooked up through the auxilary and when I installed windows xp the deep bass is lost compared to previous windows versions. Was XP changed somehow with audio settings? It sounds more crisp but the pounding bass is gone.
Can anyone help or does anyone have any programs they use to play audio thorough to improve sound beside media player?

Don't think XP substantially changed their sound card drivers. If you want to play your sound files through a coaxial digital input on a home stereo reciever, there's the Harmon Kardon DAL that transcodes your digital music files through a USB port to the stereo
![]() There's a few other brands too. It beats going through the sound card. |

I dunno about you, but I'm using windows XP and I'm putting out some house-shaking sound. I have a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 card hooked up to a Sherwood amp w/aiwa speakers (front, rear and center) and a 10" KLH powered sub. I couldn't ask for more clarity or volume. What sound card are you running? Have you updated XP at all yet?

Sound Blaster Live and a Pioneer 280 watt mini system (aint so mini!)
The WOW settings in media player and bass and treble in windows were set exactly as before and doesnt sound as good with bass.

try checking the different volume settings for the different types of sound. To do this, go to start/settings/control panel/sounds and audio devices. This might be different on your comp depending on how your XP settings are (I prefer the faster old menus as opposed to the slow cool looking ones). Either way, you should end up in the sound control panel, looking at a volume slider, an advanced button, a picture of speakers, a speaker volume button and another advanced button. Click the advanced button that goes with the volume slider. You should get a window with several volume settings. Make sure these are all at the top except for the "play control" volume. Under the "play control" slider is yet another advanced button, click that and you can adjust the treble and bass for the whole system (not just windows media player). Let me know if you have any trouble doing these steps, or if the problem persists.

little note: I hate those wow settings, I always thought they made the bass muddier and distorted. BTW, I just remembered you can change everything through the mixer in AudioHQ that came with soundblaster live if you know what program I mean. Good luck with your system!

I think something happened with the soundblaster live software while installing XP because its not there and I remember having settings adjusted in it.
I will take a look.
