What to do for a research project
I'm just starting my final year of a Computer Systems Engineering Masters at Bristol University, and need to do a research project.
There are existing choices, things like: Maths based ones: A mathematical model of the lateral vibrations induced by pedestrians walking over the Millennium Bridge A Tool for Decision Analysis in Environmental Modelling Elec. engineering ones: Computer Architecture Teaching Aids Modelling IPv6 network performance for multimedia traffic over wireless links but they're pretty boring, and I'd like to do one of my own. Any ideas? It must create something that, loosely speaking, doesnt already exist.. e.g. I couldn't create a tool for stopping internet pop-ups. Something looking into car engine electronics, or modelling suspension would be very interesting. This could be in software, or hardware.

Model a system for allocation of water resources to the populations and farms within the various nations in Syria/Iraq/Jordan/Israel/Lebanon. Inputs are the various precip models, given global climate change; and ground water.
Sinks are the various populations, ag/ and industrial users. Linkages are through the natural and made-made water systems. take into account retention times by various extant and planned dams. After the homeland issue, this will be the source of the next regional conflict. Get in on the ground floor. Good luck. |

Write a screen saver which allows to collectively verify the Riemann Hypothesis beyond 2.5 * 10 ^ 11 (or something) while we're idle or reading mercedesshop.
