Anyone from or familiar with Chattanooga Tennessee?

Going up to do some leaf peeping tomorrow. Me and a zillion others! What routes should I avoid and where are some good places to eat? Is the Northshore Grille and The Boathouse any good? Also need a fine restaurant for Saturday evening.

Why not take the train?

Here are some lyrics from the Glenn Miller song:

Pardon me, boy
Is that the Chattanooga choo choo?
Track twenty-nine
Boy, you can gimme a shine
I can afford
To board a Chattanooga choo choo
I've got my fare
And just a trifle to spare

You leave the Pennsylvania Station 'bout a quarter to four
Read a magazine and then you're in Baltimore
Dinner in the diner
Nothing could be finer
Than to have your ham an' eggs in Carolina

When you hear the whistle blowin' eight to the bar
Then you know that Tennessee is not very far
Shovel all the coal in
Gotta keep it rollin'
Woo, woo, Chattanooga there you are

There's gonna be
A certain party at the station
Satin and lace
I used to call "funny face"
She's gonna cry
Until I tell her that I'll never roam
So Chattanooga choo choo
Won't you choo-choo me home?
Chattanooga choo choo
Won't you choo-choo me home?

THere actually IS a Chattanooga Choo Choo. It's a hotel and the restaurant is a bunch of old Pullmans on a track.

And yes, driving 225 miles to see the reds, golds, and million other colors of a Southern autumn. Like my own backyard ain't got em!!

Cap'n,

I've had lunch a few times at the brewpub downtown a few times...the last time was a couple years ago when I flew up there to look at a car.

My family has been to Chattanooga a few times. All I can say is watch out for all the one-way streets, they'll getcha. The last time we were there (about 1 and a half years ago) we ate at this really fine country cooking restaurant (unfortunately I don't remember the name). They had some really good homemade from scratch biscuits, yum yum.

Hope you had/have a great time.

I second that. Make sure you make hotel reservations way ahead of time lodging in that area is a nightmare.
