The new BMW 6 series
Test drove one today just out of curiously. It is a S-W-E-E-T ride. I kinda like the look of it as well, very agressive. The trunk opener is rather neat, the button is the BMW logo. No wonder I could not figure out how to open the trunk from the outside.
According to the brochure, the convertible version is directed to compete with the SL500. But if I am going to dough out $70K, I would rather have the '05 997 instead.

How can you pit a 2+2 against a purebred 2 seat roadster? Seems like you either need a back seat or you don't.

Sixto,
I think they base it on the luxury appointments, power plant, and price. I agree with you that Bimmer is a liitle on the left field to compare that with the SL, Cadillac XLR, Jaguar XK8 and Lexus SC 430. Espeically the SL, and oh, BTW, the CL. I get all that from the section "Market Outlook" of the Product Information booklet. See, I asked the saleman for a brochure of the 6 series and he told me they do not have any. But since I pulled up to the lot in my SL and he probabaly made an assumption that I am a serious buyer so he gave me one of the sales training Production Information booklet instead. This is not something they usually give out, the booklet is for training how to sell against competitors. It has alot of interesting thing to read.

I wish BMW will stop the boxy design that looks just wrong. The 6 series are touring cars like SC430 and CLK430.
