"If I were Bruno Sacco..."

It is a fact: not all Mercedes designs are perfect. By using some image editing software, I have resolved to customize a few cars.

Today I present you with a stock Mercedes C107 (280-380-450-500SLC)...

However, I never likes those awkward louvers. I decided to remove them, and add some substance to the front and rear underbelly, as well as wheels that feel more current (W124/W126) and American-spec headlights... then straighten out the lower curve in the corner of the rear window.

What would happen if I made the B pillar a little thicker? The result looks like an American muscle car. For the sake of parts practicality, wouldn't it be nice if the rear glass was interchangeable with the hard top convertible?

Remember the Jensen Interceptor? What if Mercedes had followed the shooting brake route?

Feel free to add modifications. Challenge BRUNO SACCO!

The SLC should have never happened, it was a baby that should have been aborted, and maybe it was, it just didn't take.

Disagree. I actually quite like the louvres. There's no reason for anything but a four door saloon, everything else is pure styling exercise and toys. I think the SLC looks good. Though I didn't mind the mods the OP proposed till the louvre removal.

I really like the SLC, Mercedes Enthusiast just had a feature on them this month. They are predicting in the UK for various reasons that they will increase in value in a few years.

SLC's are on there buy list for future potential classics$$$.

My favourite would be the third one with a OM606 turbo. The last one (I concur) is pretty ugly, but makes you think about Mercedes getting into a lower segment market with shooting brakes/compacts.

I would probably make 15" Bundts factory standard on the older models:

108/109/113/107/116/123/126

And do without automatic climate control, but manual controls w/ dual zones. Funny how 240D's had this dual climate zone but 300D's had automatic with single zone (just read the '83 model line up and this was mentioned there).

The louvers were suppose to be MB's version of the circular concertina windows (right term?)...and to "fill in" the extra glass area and provide a little privacy.

I don't like the change (straightening out) on the rear-window...if you follow the line, the curve matches the eventual line of the rear window itself...so there is a "flow" to that upturn...

Bruno Sacco loved the W126 SEC, he said it was his masterpiece and the xcrowning acheement of his career in auto design for Mercedes Benz.

Long retired as a Mercedes stylist after Paul Bracq, he actually still drives a 560SEC in Germany to this very day as his personal car.
