D'Souza filed for divorce the same day it was disclosed that he'd spent the night in a hotel with a woman other than his wife. Convenient filing at best. There are multiple meanings to 'resign'. It's pretty clear in this instance that the 'resignation' was initiated by the Board of King's College. Another example of puritanical hypocrisy from the religious right.

Speaking of church, looks to me like so far this movie has gone over like a fart in the pews. Beating the metaphor to death, it appears to be nothing more than preaching to the choir.
