Also remember that the model year cutoff point for MBs is often August, when model years are changed over and new production changes are phased in. This is certainly NOT the case for all changes, but in the case of the E500 and its bodywork and such, it certainly is the case.

So to say that a change was phased in "mid year" production, you need to be more specific as to whether that was in the model year production or the calendar year production as that is different.

And also remember that a particular car could have been manufactured in say July as a certain model year car. But it was put on a boat and shipped to the USA, and sat in a dealer for 5 months before being sold. So the car is sold in January, and is registered by the dealer and state as a "next year" vehicle, because the vehicle is licensed in that particular year.

I have seen this with many cars, such as the 4.5s (last produced in 1972 as 1972 model year cars, yet somewhat regularly licensed as 1973 cars) or 6.9s being licensed as 1980 cars (last produced solidly in 1979) and so forth.

Not everything is as it seems on the surface.

Cheers,
Gerry
ok
i am looking up the exaktly built day for my car and then we see
gerry do you know any details that is only specific for -94 models.

Gerry, the mid year 500E changes, were just that, mid year. So around 5/93 +/- is where the VIN break occurs, I can't be more specific than that, my vehicle build date is 5/93 and has all of the 94 model updates except the cosmetic updates.

I verified this via the EPC, this does not mean that it wasn't done earlier though, hard to tell by the VIN ranges listed in the EPC, those mid year changes could of been 4/93, 3/93. I don't know for sure.

Yes, but it would appear that this particular yellow 500E came from the factory in this color, its not a repaint. Weird VIN with a strange color code that no one has ever heard of.

I like the "fly yellow" paint job, but I have to admit, the two tone yellow / white interior just doesn't do it for me.

hello you have a pretty hot car your self, our cars have been up for diskussion in 500ectasy some times ago.
nice to have somebody else with a very god taste of colors
i don t think our yellow colors are the same, i ll think the base in my color
are RAL 1016 (schwefelgelb)and then it s mixed with a little green as a said before the car
is changin color depending of background and light probobly is it the same color as the ambulance in sweden got(it is RAL 1016 with a special mixter that
let in the white color wich is painted under the yellow and that almost look
like the color are glowing.
in this picture you can se that the grass almost make the car look yellow/green:
