Yes, the Valentine 1 is worth it. I have one hardwired into my E430 that comes on and goes off with the key. Have it mounted way up high just under the rear view mirror, so with my tinted glass is almost invisible from the outside.
Have owned many Passports/Escorts in the past. They were the best until V-1 showed up. Showing the direction of the attack is worth the price in itself.

Definitely get a V1, it always comes up on top on Car and Driver's tests
