Thumbs up

Guido , I am defintely interested!. It is a great coincidence but I have been in the process of putting my 92 500E back together and was looking into having louvers punched and screening added. However if these are of the same quality workmanship that you produced with your cooling system pigtails count me in.
Please email me a photo. Thanks
Alan ( 500E is currently in the O.R. in my garage)

BTW- here's how I did the intake for the wagon which sucks air only from the right-side headlight; ItalianBenz's follow for comparison.

I haven't tacked welded the screen yet, and I also removed the bottom rubber (panel to bumper) in order to get even more air behind the Euro headlight, that's why you see the hoses.

My local machine-shop milled it. We wanted to do louvers, but not enough material to support the punch. I'm looking at putting louvers or some sort of air vent on the hood as well.

BTW- since I went with Euro E500 lights on the 1993 500E, I haven't decided if I want to re-instal the headlight wipers (which means different motors & arms). Anyone have the motors for sale?

Smile YO Guido !

Hey guy , I have been waiting on some additional parts to put my 500E back on the road. In the meantime I have done the top end on my 68 Cadillac Fleetwood with the 472 ci motor ( 390 hp). This will be my daily driver while I put the benz back together. As it stands now I will be ordering the panels from Guido and delete the headlight washers ( only needed for off road rallies anyhow) and changing to the 500E euro headlights listed elswhere in this site. I was not happy to have the damage to my car but with all of the input from members of this site I will be able to put it back on the road with some minor mods that have ben tried by others and proven. I will update.
Alan

louvered vs. cut-outs

Guido -

I'm interested in louvered headlamp wiper-arm filler-panel air intake mods; if the only obstacle is the lack of material, therein, wouldn't it still be possible to:

1) press/stamp two sets of 3 (horizontal) louvers (2" to 3", each) on a large sheet of metal, cut them out, and weld them into rectangular holes in the OEM panels
2) weld rear screens to prevent refuse from entering the engine compartment
3) prep, primer, paint, and mount the resultant assemblies

?

Personally, I would prefer a louvered look over a "screen door" appearance; can your machinist accommodate the request?

If so, please obtain a quote for me.

RSVP / thank you,

Talking My take on this-max flow

No disrespect intended towards Guido's enterprise, but since a few of us seemed to be getting creative with this mod I decided to give it a go; here's what I came up with. The Stainless mesh I glued into place matches the Stainless on the bumper spot-on, and no painting ever! I retained the rubber strip between the panel & bumper, just cut back the rubber attachment nubs to make them less conspicuous:

No disrespect to the others...but Michael, that looks AWESOME!

Can you take a pic from farther away so I can see how noticeable / unnoticeable the panel is from a distance?

Do you actually feel a difference in performance?

Thanks in advance.

Michael,
Looks great! What did you use to cut the panel? And did you have to repaint it afterwards?

Thanks.

Micahel,

Outstanding job!! The design and workmanship look great, very high quality.

Do you happen to know if the panels are different in size or fitment between a 92/93 and the 94 model.

Steve

Wow. Mike That looks pretty cool. How did you take down the grill mesh. The metal too thin for a spot weld. I use Clear 2 part epoxy. Works great.

Good Job.
