I can't believe you have to ask why....if you are a car guy then you'll know why this is such a special vehicle.

My reasons were as follows...

- speed is intoxicating
- MB builds the best cars in the world
- reliability
- soilidity
- value...let me explain more...I was looking to replace a tired 190E with a 300E...for the same price of less than 20K I found a gem of a 500E; although I would of laid down 10K more to have it.
- lastly...fun, fun, fun

1. "Zoom! Zoom!"
2. "Wow!"
3. "Vroom! Vroom!"

which loosely translates to:
- The car is unbelievably fast yet steady and surefooted.
- the flared fenders look great yet to the untrained eye, it's just another w124.
- the sound of a V8 accelerating is something else entirely!

In the end, when in the driver's seat, both the Zoom! Zoom! and Vroom! Vroom! more than make up for the $$$ (both acquisition and maintenance)!

500e

Any Car Guy should know that the first year of any limited run model will be a classic. That said , there are almost no low mileage 500es to be had, they are too much fun too drive!
Why did I buy mine? I wanted a high performance car that did not break the bank, was reliable, rare, and rateable for insurance.
It is also almost invisible.
BTW, it took me 2 years to find a good example .
