380 se project car Qs
I've got a85 380 se that I know I cant get the engine to perform worth a damn but I can try and make it look good. I want to start with the wheels. has anyone done a staggered wheel arrangement on this type vehicle? and what is the widest wheel/tire I can put in the rear wells? I will be playing with the ride height a little, but not to upset the camber in rear too much. so if there is any constructive help I would appreciate it thank you Keith

Hi Keith and Lisa- you may be able to acquire the info you seek immediately by calling Luke at the Tire Rack (sponsor here) and/or posting your Q in the tire and wheel forum
...my initial thought is that significantly larger wheels and tires on a 380SE will make the vehicle feel heavier in terms of steering, slower due to greater rolling resistence, and may adversely affect worn front suspension (not to mention lower mpg). I recall test driving an 'as-new' low mile 380SEC a few years ago, and I was left feeling that it needed a little more ooomph in the get up and go dept. fwiw-I also felt that the 500SEC and 560SEC needed more oomph too -though. good luck -fad |
