Cool Mercedes-Benz W124 E500 1994 Brilliant Silver Metallic/Black

Mercedes-Benz W124 E500 1994 Brilliant Silver Metallic/Black
- http://www.euroclassicmotors.com/galleries/e500s.html

This guy has had a few cars for sale that have been discussed on here before and I have to agree with Dave (gsxr) that the guy can detail and take photos of these cars well. The Carlsson wheels look fantastic and I love the interior / exterior color combo.

I am a bit cross about the Brabus km/h cluster change, not sure why anybody would that honestly. I do love the steering wheel though as well and I imagine I'd like how it feels.

What do you guys think?

This guy can detail like crazy. IIRC its the same person who we've noted on ebay a while ago. He was trying to pass off a non-AMG (basically the bodywork + engine swap) for a genuine, and also a 300D that had incorrect suspension components on it (rear was jacked up). I would stay away unless you're getting a detailing lesson. Or if I'm wrong.

Wouldn't you know from the VIN # that it was not an AMG?

I am doing research right now -- I like to know as much as possible so I know what to look for like failure points etc. I can swing anything around $20k if it is well proven to be well taken care of. The biggest unknown for me is how well these engines/trans hold up at 200,000+- miles and what are the major issues that occur at these miles.

The M119 is bulletproof as long as it is taken care of...

As for transmissions, we have found that they last about 200-225k miles.

Our old 400E had about 200k on it, and the transmission was starting to slip... :/

That's a damn nice E500 (top link). Hmmm...I have been thinking of replacing the E430 with a newer E55. However, I am now thinking about perhaps a mint condition E500/500E. Those cars are gorgeous, IMO. Total classics. I'd have to come stateside to buy one though, they would be rust-wrecks up here if I could even find a decent one.

Our dollar is basically par right now as well...

Hmm....
